Community Guidelines
Buddy Check exists because diving is better with the right person by your side. A few ground rules to keep this a place people trust:
Be who you say you are
No fake profiles, no catfishing, no misrepresenting your certification, experience, or intentions. Buddy Check is built on real people finding real connections — don't be the reason someone loses trust in that.
No bait and switch
If you say you're looking for a dive buddy, be looking for a dive buddy. If you're open to dating, say so honestly. Don't use one as a cover for the other.
Be kind and respectful
Disagreements happen, bad matches happen — that's normal. Harassment, hostility, and disrespect aren't. Treat people the way you'd want to be treated meeting them for coffee before a dive.
Meet safely
We built the "meet first" culture into this app for a reason. Trust your gut, meet in public first, and never feel obligated to dive with someone who doesn't feel right.
Certifications are self-reported
We don't independently verify certification claims — always confirm a buddy's experience and qualifications yourself before diving together.
If something feels off
Use the menu on any diver's profile to block or report them. Blocking is silent and instant — the other diver is never told, you both vanish from each other's search results and messages, and any pending dive invite or buddy connection between you is removed. Reports go privately to the Buddy Check team.
Breaking these guidelines can result in account suspension or removal. If something feels off, report it — we'd rather know.
Accounts that break these guidelines — and any account found to belong to someone under 18 — are suspended or removed. See our Terms & Conditions for the full details.
